Prof Geoff Soutar, a Nancy Keegan and Don Voelte Distinguished Scholar at the University of Western Australia Business School, honoured the NMK 801 students of the MCom Human Resource Management/Industrial and Organisational Psychology programme with a lecture on "The Best and Worst scaling to measure all sorts of things".  He was invited to take part in the Research Methodology workshop presented by Ms Sumari O'Neil on Friday 13 March 2009.  He presented the Best-Worst scaling as an alternative to rating scales, while highlighting the psychometric disadvantages of Likert type scales.  He also shared his experience in the field of Management and how measurement can optimally be used in practice.  The interest of the students were evident in their vigorous participation and interesting questions.  We thank Prof Soutar for the opportunity!
