Farewell to Huma van Rensburg

Posted on April 04, 2011

She was the CEO of the SABPP for 21 years and a beloved travel companion and partner of her department. We wish her all the best for the next phase of her life.

From the SABPP farewell to Huma and the welcoming of the new CEO, Mr Marius Meyer, we quote:

The South African Board for People Practices (SABPP), the professional body for human resource (HR) practitioners, and Education and Training Quality Assurance Bodies for HR learning provision, appointed a new CEO, Marius Meyer, to rearticulate the SABPP for the future.

He takes over from outgoing CEO, Huma van Rensburg, who retired after serving the board for 21 years. Elizabeth Dhlamini-Kumalo, chairperson of SABPP states: “The professionalism of our registered practitioners as champions for the HR profession is of utmost importance in ensuring that we all live and work with passion, dedication and commitment when applying the HR body of knowledge to our unique South African challenges.”

Huma confirms: “It was a privilege to serve the HR community for so long and I thank all HR practitioners for working with us in building the HR profession. SABPP is in a strong position, and I leave the board in capable hands.”

Ivan Latti, past chairperson of the board, asserts: “Thanks to Huma, the board has evolved into a national asset for professional HR management, and therefore an investment in the future of the country. Perhaps the clearest evidence of the quality of her service orientation is the fact that renewal and growth was evident even near the end of her career.”
