The Society's mission is to help develop a fair and humane work environment, enabling people to reach their full potential and experience a high quality of work life in South Africa.

To this end, the Society strives to create conditions in which industrial and organisational psychologists will be able to deliver efficient and effective services to the benefit of all in South Africa. As objectives the Society strives to understand the needs of industrial and organisational psychologists, enhance the credibility of the discipline and promote public awareness. Other objectives are to encourage research that is related to the science, the practice and teaching of industrial and organisational psychology, to provide bursaries and to promote excellence in training and development. Close contact with the consumers of professional services and the promotion of available, accessible and affordable professional services are also very important aspects to SIOPSA. Good relations with consumers are specifically important in order to provide good practice guidelines and to define, monitor, promote and adhere to the statutory regulations and ethical guidelines of the profession and to liaise with national and international bodies.

The Executive Committee is the highest authority of SIOPSA and promotes the interests of industrial and organisational psychology as a science and profession in accordance with the objectives of SIOPSA. It has the right to conduct all business whatsoever of the Society, subject to the direction of members at properly constituted general meetings. The Executive Committee shall meet not less than four times in any year.
