UP's Dr Paul Smit invited to deliver papers at prestigious universities

The Moscow State University ranks amongst the top 100 universities in the world. The theme of the summit is “The future of the Global World and Global Studies”. Dr Smit will deliver a paper entitled “Transnational Labour Relations in SADC: Regional integration or regional globalisation?”, which forms part of the three-year research project on transnational labour relations in the SADC under the mentorship of Prof Manfred Weiss of the Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany.

Dr Smit and one of his doctoral students, Ms Rene Huyser, also received an invitation to present a paper at the London School of Economics’ (LSE) conference with the theme “Social Justice in the 21st Century: The institutions that make social justice”, which will take place in London during August 2014. The LSE is one of the top ten schools in the world. The title of Dr Smit and Mrs Huyser’s joint paper of is “A social justice score card for dismissal protection”. The paper is based on the research done by Ms Huyser in pursuing of a PhD of which Dr Smit was the supervisor.
