South Africa’s rowers proved they are again going to be a force in international rowing when they won four gold medals over the three days of the Regata Internazionale Memorial Paolo d'Aloja in Italy.

The 4x100m-relay gold medal is one that South Africa is judging by the last two years sprint results should have a realistic chance to contest for, but somehow they never really got to give it a full go at a major competition.

The South African 400m-hurdles champion, Wenda Nel, had no problem in qualifying this morning for the final at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.
