This month’s JFM forecast is showing an increased likelihood of drier than normal conditions over the area that includes part of South Africa (northeast), Botswana, Namibia and Mozambique. However, the FMA forecast is more optimistic for a late summer season that will be wetter than normal. A typical mid-summer dry spell scenario is therefore expected to occur over the area. For the southwestern Cape and the south coast, the autumn and early winter forecast suggest an increased likelihood of conditions that will be drier than normal. There is an enhanced likelihood of cooler than normal maximum temperatures which is likely to be followed by warmer than normal maximum temperatures closer to autumn.
