Seasonal Forecast (May 2022) available

Posted on May 17, 2022

The UP model predicts a weak La Nina event towards summer; this forecast is in agreement with most models. The SW Cape is expected to experience below-normal rainfall from early winter throughout the forecast period that ends with the Aug-Sep-Oct 3-month period. Enhanced probabilities for wet conditions are predicted over the northern parts during late autumn. Cooler maximum temperatures are expected over the larger parts of the region at the beginning of the forecast period. Warmer maximum temperatures are expected over the southwestern parts. Warmer than average conditions are likely to set in over the interior toward spring.
