The UP February Seasonal Forecast Worx predicts, in agreement with other models, a transition into ENSO-neutral conditions during winter. There are enhanced probabilities for wet conditions over the larger summer rainfall region during late summer going into autumn. In contrast, the SW Cape is expected to experience a slow start to its winter rainfall season, with enhanced probabilities for below normal rainfall during autumn and early winter.

Cooler and near-normal maximum temperatures are expected over the central and western parts of the region at the beginning of the forecast period. In comparison, for the northern half of the region, warmer than average conditions are likely for the latter part of the forecast period.
