Access current weather of Hatfield campus through our Department's weather station!

Posted on November 26, 2020

Recently, the Department of Geography, Geoinformatics and Meteorology obtained a new automatic weather station (AWS). The AWS is mounted on the roof of the Geography Building on the Hatfield Campus. The Davis Vantage Pro2 professional AWS records parameters such as temperature, humidity, wind speed, wind direction, rainfall, solar radiation and ultraviolet Index (UVI) at 15-minute intervals.

The observations from the AWS are stored locally and real-time observations are available on the Weather Underground website. The installation of this new AWS will allow UP meteorology students to have immediate access to current weather observations that can be used in class discussions. Once a larger data set becomes available these datasets can also be used for future research projects. The data are available to anyone from the UP community and can be obtained from Prof Liesl Dyson ([email protected]).
