Guest lecture on GISSA and use of GIS in research and industry

Posted on April 09, 2019

On 8 April guest presenters from industry spoke to approximately 100 2nd and 3rd year students registered for GIS modules in our Department. Prevlan Chetty from GCS spoke to the students about GISSA, professional registration, as well as how GIS and geospatial methods are applied in industry using a practical example. Samy Katumba from the GCRO and currently registered for his PhD Geoinformatics in our Department, spoke to the students about how geospatial methods and GIS can be used in a specific research field - here racial segregation indices across Gauteng. Sirosha Budram was on hand to answer any questions the students had.

The Department would like to thank the presenters for their insightful talks and willingness to engage with the students.
