Seven scholars and three teachers visited the Geography, Geoinformatics and Meteorology department on 13 September. Dr Christel Hansen, on of the GIS lecturers, took the scholars through a GIS exercise where teh scholars had to go through each step of a normal GIS project. The scholars had to add data to a GI software, query and manipulate, and finally map the location of a new building site. The scholars were also introduced to remote sensing images and how to use these in mapping, as well as various online mapping platforms. Teachers and scholars greatly enjoyed the session and after the GIS 'practical' was completed at ~12:15, they were able to have a look at the Hatfield Campus, including the Sci-Enza.
