Prof Olga Maphasha

Professor Olga Mihaho Maphasha, a Family physician, was born in Winterveldt, Bophuthatswana. As an African female, she currently serves as the Head of Clinical Unit in the Department of Family Medicine at Kalafong Provincial Tertiary Hospital, a position she has held since January 1, 2023. Professor Maphasha holds a Bcur degree in Nursing from the Medical University of South Africa (1996), an MBChB degree from the University of Limpopo (2008), an MMED in Family Medicine from Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University (2017), and a Fellowship of the College of Family Physicians (FCFP) from the College of Medicine SA (2017). Her professional experience spans various roles, including Head of Clinical Unit, Consultant/ senior lecturer/supervisor in Family Medicine, and previously a Medical Officer in both casualty, obstetrics and gynecology, and Registrar in Family Medicine. She has worked Extensively in different hospitals, including Kalafong Provincial Tertiary Hospital, Bougainville Netcare Hospital, ODI District Hospital, and Dr George Mukhari Academic Hospital. She has been involved in clinical management, teaching, and examinations, showcasing her comprehensive expertise in family medicine and healthcare. She has co-authored numerous peer-reviewed journal articles, contributing significantly to medical literature. Notable publications include studies on the use of the partogram, Caesarean sections, Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia, COVID-19, and viral hemorrhagic fevers. Her research has been published in reputable journals such as South African Family Practice and African Health Sciences, highlighting her commitment to advancing medical knowledge.
