Education Association of South Africa (EASA) Annual Conference 2024

The Education Association of South Africa (EASA), hosted by the University of Johannesburg held the annual conference from 14 to 17 January 2024 at the Mount Grace Hotel & Spa, Magaliesburg, South-Africa. The theme of the conference was ‘The cradle, evolution and the future of education’.

Conference delegates included academics from around South Africa as well as other countries such as the United States, Columbia, Pakistan and China. Tonference themes included neurodiversity and social justice in Education, ICT’s and the 4IR Educational landscape, the SDG’s for Education, trauma and School violence/school safety, lifelong learning and Resilience in education, community partnerships through engaged scholarship, future-fit leadership in education and ethical considerations in the landscape of education.

Under the umbrella theme of Science Communication in Education Research, the team from the CSR presented three papers. Paper 1 elaborated on science communication for responsive- and responsible science in a Global South space. Paper 2 focussed on communicating science on intentional play as cost-effective intervention to promote the positive development of children-in-distress. Lastly, paper 3 focussed on communicating science on the Enabling Schools Toolkit to promote education- and well-being outcomes of foundation phase children in rural spaces.
