Masidlale study: Play matters for children in distress - What to do in places of care

The Masidlale study conducted at two residential care homes in Gqheberha, South Africa, during 2021 and 2022, explored the impact of intentional play on the developmental outcomes of children in distress. It involved 26 care role-players and 59 children, assessing health, social, self/personal, and educational dimensions. The Masidlale Practitioner/Policy Brief distils key findings and offers guidelines for utilising play to foster positive development, serving as a companion piece to the comprehensive Masidlale Project Report.
