The 2025 Orientation Week was an exciting and impactful experience, with UP RAG playing a crucial role in welcoming first-year students to the University of Pretoria. Held from February 3rd to February 6th at the Hatfield Campus Piazza, the Student Life Exhibition provided an excellent platform for UP RAG to engage with the incoming class, introducing them to the spirit of giving and community upliftment that defines UP RAG.

Throughout the week, the dedicated UP RAG executive committee set up an inviting and informative stall, where first years were encouraged to learn more about UP RAG’s mission and the positive change we strive to create. We shared our initiatives, explained the significance of student involvement in philanthropy, and highlighted the many opportunities available for them to contribute to meaningful causes.

The response from first-year students was overwhelmingly positive, with many showing keen interest in getting involved. Through interactive activities and meaningful conversations, we emphasized the importance of giving back, fostering a culture of social responsibility from the very beginning of their university journey.

One of the key moments of the week was the invitation to attend the highly anticipated 2025 RAG of Hope Day—an event that brings students together in a collective effort to support charitable initiatives. UP RAG encouraged first years to mark their calendars and become active participants in this flagship event, where they will have the chance to make a tangible difference while building friendships and having fun.

The success of our engagement during Orientation Week reinforces UP RAG’s commitment to raising awareness and inspiring action among students. We are grateful for the enthusiasm shown by the new cohort and look forward to seeing them take part in our initiatives throughout the year.
