One staff member and two PhD students from the University of Pretoria won three of the twelve fellowships awarded by the 2015 L'Oréal-UNESCO for Women in Science Sub-Saharan Africa 2015 programme.

Mr Shehu S Awandu, a PhD student at the University of Pretoria Centre for Sustainable Malaria Control (UP CSMC) won the trophy as best presenter at the Limpopo Provincial Health Research day held in Polokwane in November 2015.

Dr Taneshka Kruger, from the UP CSMC is very passionate about eliminating malaria in South Africa, and eventually in Africa as a whole and has been involved in research on the subject for a number of years.
