On this day in 2004, the University of Pretoria (UP) Senate took a significant step towards enhancing academic integration at the Mamelodi Campus. At its meeting on 28 January, the Senate replaced the existing Theme Committee on Academic Matters with the newly established Senate Committee on Academic Matters at the Mamelodi Campus (SCAMMC). This committee was specifically designed to include relevant academic representatives and was tasked with facilitating the alignment of Mamelodi Campus’s academic programmes with those of the broader University.
The primary goals of the SCAMMC were to oversee quality assurance processes, ensure consistency in programme composition, and refine the content of academic offerings at the Mamelodi Campus. This initiative marked a key milestone in fostering greater cohesion between the Mamelodi Campus and UP’s other campuses.
The University of Pretoria Archives (UPA) remains committed to preserving and sharing the institution’s rich history. Its extensive collections include newspaper clippings, annual reports, publications, and photographs like the ones featured here.
