A Day in the Life of the University of Pretoria. 23 August 1957

Posted on June 28, 2023

On this “Day in the life at the University of Pretoria” Die Perdeby  reported that students need more constructive leisure time activities - like roller skating.

In 1957, the student newspaper claimed that students had too few leisure activities. They could watch a film, view a stage performance, play on the pinball table, or study. The writer urged his fellow students to advocate for a skating rink on the Hatfield Campus where they could spend their evenings while getting in some exercise.

The University of Pretoria Archives (UPA) preserves the history of the University of Pretoria. The UPA has an extensive photo collection and clipping collection. Please contact us on [email protected] to share your memories of Tukkies or to access our collection.
