A Day in the Life of the University of Pretoria. 22 September 1975

On this "Day in the life of the University of Pretoria" more than 3000 UP students handed over a signed a petition to the National Party government that supported Article 6 of the Terrorism Act at the Union Buildings.

5000 students signed the petition in support of the act which allowed persons to be arrested if suspected of committing an act of terrorism against the National Party government. Mr Jimmy Kruger, Minister of Justice, praised the Tukkies students and staff members for supporting government policies like the Terrorism Act. This protest was initiated in reaction to the University of the Witwatersrand’s protests against the legislation.
