A day in the life at the University of Pretoria. 11 July 2021

Posted on July 11, 2024

On this "Day in the life of the University of Pretoria" a year ago, Tukkie researchers reported on the outcome of a study done on the effectiveness of the pandemic lockdown regulations.

Staff members in the Department of Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering of found that it would be difficult to enforce regulations for more than 100 days. Professor Ian Crag, Dr Laurentz Olivier and Stefan Botha from the University of Pretoria led this study. The team advise that lockdown measures need to be implemented carefully to prevent permanent loss to an already vulnerable economy.

The University of Pretoria Archives (UPA) preserves the history of the University of Pretoria. The UPA has an extensive clipping collection as featured here. During the lockdown period the UPA launched a competition that recorded staff and student experiences of the pandemic. These records can be viewed in the UP Archives's reading room. Please contact us on [email protected] to share your memories of Tukkies or access our collection.
