In a 2010 article, as featured above, the Perdeby reported that the climbing team has participated in the Everest Challenge. In this, teams had to climb a 3500m, the distance from the base camp to the summit of Mount Everest. In 2010 however they attempted to climb 8848m the equivalent of a climb from sea level to the summit of the mountain. During the competition at LC de Villiers, the 12 members in the team had to climb 30 to 40 laps of 700m each in 24 hours. Five teams from across SA participated on the day. TuksExploratio managed to finish within 14 hours winning the competition by 3 hours.
