On this "Day in the life of the University of Pretoria" the student newspaper, the Perdeby reported on a media freedom debate held on campus. The discussion was organized by the Faculty of Humanities, Faculty of Law and the Mail and Guardian.

The debate, as featured in the article above, formed part of a three series debate that focused on the role of the media in South African Society. The October 2010 debate asked if media restrictions are necessary, what kind of society we want and what role the media plays in taking us there. Participants on this day included Zizi Kodwa (Presidential spokesperson); Judge Dennis Davis and writer and editor Nic Dawes.

The UPA preserves the history of the University of Pretoria.
