On this "Day in the life of the University of Pretoria" Johannesburg based daily newspaper Rand Daily Mail reported on a student fundraising event.

The brief article reported that past students will hold a bridge drive in the University club hall in aid of the University’s new library. Fundraising efforts like these were common practice during this era.
