A day in the life at the University of Pretoria: 17 February 2015

On this "Day in the life of the University of Pretoria",17 February 2015,  the university celebrated the life of master story teller, Andre P. Brink. Led by the rector prof. C. de la Rey, the university hosted a memorial service in Brink’s honor.

As part of an effort to recognize important role-players on the South African literary scene, the Department of Afrikaans awarded honorary doctorates to authors Dr A.P. (André) Brink, Dr B (Breyten) Breytenbach, Dr E (Elsa) Joubert and Dr E (Es’kia) Mphahlele, as well as Prof GJ (Jakes) Gerwel, former Principal of the University of the Western Cape. Dr. A.P. Brink received an honorary doctorate from the University of Pretoria on 7 April 2003.
