23 August 1957: UP student’s demand roller skating rink on campus. On this “Day in the life at the University of Pretoria” Die Perdeby reported that students need more constructive leisure time activities - like roller skating.

In 1957 the paper (featured above) explained that students had too few leisure activities. They could watch a film, view a stage performance, play on the pintable, or study. The writer urged his fellow students to advocate a skating rink on the Hatfield campus where they could spend their evenings while getting in some exercise.
