22 August 1969: 1500 students and staff eat at Tuks cafeteria each day. On this “Day in the life at the University of Pretoria” the student paper, Die Perdeby, reported that the campus cafeteria has “flourished”.

The paper (featured above) listed the most popular products as: coffee, tea, cold drink, toast, hamburgers, sweets and cigarettes. Several students also enjoy lunch at the “oasis on campus”. Unfortunately, the cafeteria had been burgled four times over the past three years. Thieves stole cigarettes and sweets during the most recent break-in in August.
