16 August 2013: Audiences attended the first public performance of the newly installed Rieger Organ in the UP Chapel. This "Day in the life of the University of Pretoria" ended with an evening performance by Wim Viljoen, Ockie Vermeulen and Theo van Wyk. The installation of this organ improved the facilities for organ tuition at the institution.

The commemorative publication, stored in  the UP Archives holdings, explains that: “This magnificent instrument was designed by Josef Glatter-Götz and Prof Rudolf Scholz and built in 1982 for the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst (the University for Music and the Performing Arts) in Vienna, Austria. It has now been moved to the University of Pretoria Chapel where it has found a worthy home in a suitable acoustical environment”.
