TuksHockey : Men remain victorious, ladies beaten first time in 8 years

Posted on September 26, 2010

The match was a high tempo affair and at the final whistle the score line was 2-2 pushing the match into extra time, seven and a half minutes each way and the golden goal rule coming into play (namely whoever scores first wins). Going into extra time both teams fought hard but much to our disappointment it was TUT who stepped up in the second period of extra time to score the winner and clinch the league title with a 3-2 victory.

The Tuks men however dominated their final with a 5-2 win over Pukke. The goal scorers were Francois Pretorius 2, Matt Guis-Brown, Mark Holiday, Malcom Ratz. The Tuks team played some quality hockey scoring early off a fine tuned short corner flick to set the tone for the match. The match saw some excellent skills being worked down the right midfield by Nick Gonsalves. The field goals were a fine display of unselfish play and on a whole it was a great effort by Tuks who are deserved winners of the 2010 Northerns league title.

Congratulations to the team and to their coach David Viney.
