Radiography is a health care science occupation that deals with medical diagnostic images. It is one of the rapidly growing occupations in modern health care. The University of Pretoria offers an undergraduate degree in Diagnostic Radiography and postgraduate degrees in three professional fields: Diagnostics, Radiation Therapy and Nuclear Medicine. During training, students are exposed to all facets of health care. Training takes place at primary, secondary and tertiary institutions. The Department of Radiography in the Faculty of Health Sciences is one of two such departments in South Africa that offer a degree course. Students have the opportunity to interact with other health care professionals and therefore have a better understanding of a holistic approach to patient care and the fact that they are members of the health care team.
