Course Objectives Ears

The aim of this course is to give registrars and newly qualified specialists an update in treatment of diseases of the ears. At the end of the course participants will be able to perform ear surgery for inflammatory disease, surgery to address temporal bone tumors as well as basic procedures involving the inner ear and lateral base of skull.

All these procedures will be discussed and demonstrated in prosection by experienced ear surgeons. Lectures will deal with medical treatment, investigations, indications for surgery, current research and all the procedures being taught.

In addition We will also provide endoscopes to give any interested delegate an opportunity to learn the basics of endoscopic surgery of the ear.

Dissection will be done in two groups for a duration of eight hours each. There will be one fresh frozen head for two delegates, a fully equipped workstation with all instruments required, motorized equipment, endoscopes. A feature that sets this course apart will be that on fresh frozen cadaver heads the faculty will be able to demonstrate the soft tissue aspects of the surgery such as incisions, flap and harvesting of grafts.
