Programme & Course Objectives FESS

The aim of this course is to give registrars and newly qualified specialists an update in treatment of sinus disease. At the end of the course participants will be able to perform FESS surgery for inflammatory disease, surgery to address sinonasal tumors confined to the nose and the sinuses as well as opening the pituitary fossa for pituitary surgery.

All these procedures will be discussed and demonstrated in prosection by experienced sinus surgeons. Lectures will deal with medical treatment of rhinosinusitis, investigations, indications for surgery, fungal disease, mucoceles, current research and all the procedures being taught.

In addition Prof. R. Green will give us an insight into conditions such as ciliary dyskinesia, Samter’s triad, congenital autoimmune diseases and cystic fibrosis and their implications on sinus disease.

Dissection will be done in two groups for a duration of eight hours each. There will be one fresh frozen head for two delegates, a fully equipped workstation with all instruments required, motorized equipment, endoscopes, camera stack as well as surgical navigation.
