You are cordially invited to the celebration of the International Day of Mathematics hosted by the Department of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, the UP Maths Club, the Blue Crane Space, and Sci-Enza.
Our celebration will start a day early, on Wednesday 13 March 2024, from 10:00-14:00. You will find us around the big chess board (look for the big chess pieces -- you won't miss it!), near Pure Cafe, next to the Aula Lawn. We will showcase the beauty of mathematics through various puzzles, arts and crafts, and games! (Win delicious mathematical cookies by participating in our games!)
On Thursday 14 March 2024, we will be at Sci-Enza from 14:00-16:30. Do you know that we can approximate Pi using a bunch of "needles"? You can participate in this experiment and listen to a lecture on how this works! We will have another short lecture on the wonders of Bézier curves.
