On Thursday, 17 October, the GGY 361 and GGY 363 groups visited the iThemba laboratories in Johannesburg to learn more about radiocarbon dating. The group was guided by Dr Stephan Woodborne, the Senior Accelerator Mass Spectrometry Scientist at iThemba LABS (Laboratories for Accelerator Based Sciences). A specific focus was placed on radiocarbon dating, which provided practical context and application to the module's theme of palaeoclimates and geomorphology.
