From 17 to 24 September 2023, Prof Serena Coetzee, Prof Nerhene Davis and six UP students participated in an international summer school "Cognitive Geomatics - Teaching/Learning about Sense of Place” hosted by the Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences (HKA) in Germany. Teachers and students exchanged ideas around digital teaching and learning materials (blended learning) which were developed with input from students. The project team takes Cognitive Geomatics as the interaction of how we think about and perceive physical space (our inner maps / mental maps) and how we use high-tech methods for measuring, analyzing, and mapping our environment (in virtual reality).
