On the 13th September 2018, GGM held a Gender Mainstreaming Workshop in direct response to the University wide call to eradicate discrimination and contribute to a transformed society. The workshop drew a lot of interest from GGM students who had the opportunity to listen to insightful presentations by accomplished female scientists who were invited to reflect on their own career journeys and women's positioning in science. Presenters included Ms Dawn Mhlaboo, Ms Remi Ankabi, Ms Bolelang Sibolla and Dr Christien Engelbrecht. Students were also given the opportunity to participate in discussions during breakaway sessions and they came back providing insightful perspectives and feedback for consideration towards devising a gender sensitive transformation strategy for the GGM department.
