Join the department for this year's mini-conference.

The Department of Geography, Geoinformatics and Meteorology, together with the Centre for Geoinformation Science (CGIS) and Centre for Environmental Studies (CFES) cordially invites you to a one-day mini-conference showcasing PhD and MSc research conducted in the department. The conference will take place on Friday, 1 November 2019, in room 1-2 of the Geography building, Hatfield Campus, University of Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa. The program is available here.

The mini-conference is registered for one CPD point (UNI630) with the South African Geomatics Council. Registration is free, but seats are limited.

  • Directions from Various

The Department is located at the University of Pretoria Hatfield Campus (GPS coordinates: S25° 45’ 21” E28º 13’ 51”). Travel to the Hatfield Campus using the directions below and ask for further directions to the Department when you sign in at the gate. The Department is located at the western edge of the Aula lawn, opposite the Old Arts Building and next to the Zoology Building. Also have a look at the Hatfield Campus map - the Geography Building is indicated as # 25.

From the North
Take the N1 South freeway (towards Johannesburg). Then take the N4 off-ramp (Witbank freeway). Follow the N4 West freeway (towards Pretoria), which becomes Pretorius Street. Turn left into Gordon Road, which becomes Jan Shoba Street (previously Duncan Street). Now turn right into Lynnwood Road. You will find the main entrance to the Hatfield Campus on your right at Roper Street.

From Johannesburg
Take the N1 North freeway (towards Polokwane). Then take the Lynnwood Road off-ramp, turn left into Lynnwood Road, passing several sets of traffic lights. At the second set of traffic lights after Jan Shoba Street (previously Duncan Street) you will find the main entrance to the Hatfield Campus on your right at Roper Street.

From OR Tambo International Airport
Travel along the R21 freeway and follow the directions to Pretoria until you reach the N1 North freeway (Pretoria–Polokwane). Then travel along the N1 North until you reach the Lynnwood Road off-ramp. Turn left into Lynnwood Road, passing several sets of traffic lights. At the second set of traffic lights after Jan Shoba Street (previously Duncan Street) you will find the main entrance to the Hatfield Campus on your right at Roper Street.

From the West (city centre)
Travel along Francis Baard Street (previously Schoeman Street), direction east, until you reach Hill Street. Then turn right into Hill Street, left into Burnett Street, and right into University Road. You will find the University Road entrance on your left, or continue to Lynnwood Road. Turn left into Lynnwood Road. You will find the main entrance on your left at Roper Street.

From the Hatfield Gautrain Station
Travel along Grosvenor Street, direction south, until you reach Prospect Street. Turn right into Prospect Street and continue along Prospect Street until you reach the Hatfield Campus Prospect Street entrance.
