UP Law academics shine at UP 2020 Annual Academic Achievers' Award Function

The Faculty of Law (UP Law) at the University of Pretoria (UP) extends hearty congratulations to all UP  Academic Achievers who were announced on 25 November 2020 during a spectacular virtual ceremony.  UP Law is in particular very proud of its staff members who have received awards.

Professor Frans Viljoen, Director of the Centre for Human Rights, is the recipient of an Exceptional Academic Achiever's Award.  With the Exceptional Achievers, a number of awards is granted annually to senior academics who have already achieved professional status and who have maintained continuous exceptional achievement in the fields of under- and postgraduate teaching and learning, research, community service and administration, and who enjoy exceptionally high stature among their peers. Academics who have been evaluated by the National Research Foundation (NRF) as A-rated researchers, automatically also attain the status of Exceptional Achiever.

The following UP Law staff members received awards for their respective National Research Foundation ratings:

Professor Dire Tladi, a B-rated researcher in the Department of Public Law and Research Fellow at the Institute for International Comparative Law in Africa, who enjoys considerable international recognition by their peers for the high quality and impact of their recent research.

Professors Birgit Kuschke (Department of Private Law) and Koos Malan (Department of Public Law), as C-rated researchers, who are regarded as established researchers with a sustained recent record of productivity in their respective fields.
