UP Law extends appreciation to and greets the 2020 Editorial Board of the PSLR

Posted on November 25, 2020

The Faculty of Law (UP Law) at the University of Pretoria (UP) conveys its appreciation to the 2020 Editorial Board of and contributors to the Pretoria Student Law Review for their dedication to this journal. The Faculty also conveys its appreciation to the Pretoria University Law Press (PULP) for annually publishing this journal.

Simultaneously, the PSLR bids goodbye to Simon Mateus (formerly Motshweni) in his capacity as Editor-in-Chief and Dr Gustav Muller in his capacity as Guardian of the PSLR. During his term as Editor-in-Chief, Mateus ensured that the PSLR published two editions for the first time. First, the very first special edition of the PSLR - a focused edition that covers critical issues brought before the South African Law Deans Association (SALDA) and second, the thickest annual edition boasting with over 400 pages, a feat unequalled in the history of the PSLR.

“Our vision is to create a boldly outlined legacy for the PSLR, to spearhead the setting up of a system that will last the lifespan of the PSLR. To date, the quality and the reputation of the Law Review remain unquestionable and I have no doubt that the incoming editorial board will not only uphold the esteemed integrity of the PSLR but will improve its standards of excellence.” says Mateus.

In 2021, Mateus will be reading for a Master of Laws degree (Research: International Law) with Prof Dire Tladi, while also providing research assistance to Prof Christof Heyns at the Institute for International and Comparative Law in Africa (ICLA).

In his final words as Editor-in-Chief, Mateus said “To the incoming Editorial Board, my door will always be open to advise and assist when needed. Dr Gustav Muller and I remain within the premises of the University, ready to heed to any call you make. Best wishes on your new roles, I have no doubt that the PSLR is in good hands.”

Dean Professor Elsabe Schoeman extended UP Law's gratitude to the 2020 Editor-in-Chief and the Editorial Board, Dr Gustav Muller and Lizette Hermann at PULP.  'I thank each and every one that has worked towards and contributed to this high quality journal.  In particular the management and production of the PSLR by students, for students.'
