Dr Mgabadeli Sikhokhele NcubeBVSc |
Dr. Mgabadeli Sikhokhele Ncube joined the Department in 2020. Having graduated his BVSc in 2017, he has been studying Veterinary Industrial Pharmacology at the Onderstepoort campus of the University of Pretoria from 2018 to 2019. He has a background in small animal medicine private practice, antimicrobial resistance and public health. He lectures the veterinary and para-veterinary undergraduates in horse and dog ethology, handling and nutrition, and the para-veterinary undergraduate students in theatre practice, anaesthetics and surgery. Dr Ncube is also a member of the Faculty community engagement committee.
For his MSc, Dr. Ncube is assessing the level of antimicrobial resistance in feedlot cattle and how that is influenced by veterinary drug use and legislation regulating veterinary drug access and use. Prior research interests were in public health; surveying the prevalence of zoonotic Cryptosporidium species in dairy farms.
