Summary CV
Dr. Christelle le Roux graduated from the University of Pretoria in 2006 and spent 6 years in small animal private practice. She returned to the Department in 2013 to specialise in the field of Diagnostic Imaging and obtained her specialist degree in 2016. She also became a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging (ECVDI) in 2018. She teaches the subject of Diagnostic Imaging to undergraduate veterinary students and oversees final year training. She is responsible for post-graduate student training for specialising in Diagnostic Imaging.
Research Expertise/Interest
Dr. le Roux’s research interest includes pulmonary computed tomography with emphasis on atelectasis and positional organ changes. Her main clinical interest lies in ultrasound imaging.
Postgraduate Students

- Drs. Sumari Dancer and Nicolene Hoepner are currently undergoing training for a specialist degree in Diagnostic Imaging. Their research projects include comparison of the radiological changes with those of computed tomography in dogs suffering from blunt thoracic trauma, and echocardiography findings in horses with African horse sickness.

- Dr Elza Hollenbach is investigating the prevalence of radiographic changes in the foot and metacarpophalangeal joints of South African endurance horses.
MEd
- Sr Cornelia Hanekom is investigating the radiation safety practices of veterinary clinics in South Africa and the role of implementation of staff education in order to improve safety practices.
PhD
- Dr Manual Quinci is comparing the value of contrast enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) in the detection of abdominal neoplastic lesions to computed tomography.
