As part of their field work for the compulsory undergraduate module, Community-based Project Module (JCP) of the Faculty Engineering, the Built Environment and Information Technology, a group of 5 engineering students assisted at the Husky Rescue Centre in Elandsdrift
They indicated that it is an extremely efficient and important organisation and that it was such a privilege to be able to work there. They assisted with various tasks like repainted the dogs' kennels with creosote as well as painting and decorating some flower pots. The students, Christiaan Barnard, Alice Hedley, Timothy Miller, Kathryn van der Plank and Motheo Vundla indicated that they learnt a great deal about huskies and the necessity of rescue centres.
