JCP Projects at the Zoo

Posted on July 16, 2009

The Community-Based Project Module (JCP) is a compulsory module for all undergraduates of the Faculty of Engineering, Built Environment and Information Technology (EBIT).  The module entails that students work at least 40 hours in the community, thereafter reflect on their experiences via a presentation and a blog.

One of the partners of this module is the National Zoological Gardens in Pretoria.  This year 92 students worked in 26 different projects at the Zoo.  One group of students built a platform for the cheetah.  They are Jeremy Rautenbach, Maurice Coopmans, JD Berry, Gerhard Snyman, Barnie Barnard and Robert Vinson.  Unfortunately the cheetah could not be on the photograph.

Ross Cameron, Ryan Cassells, Byron Jones, Jaco Joubert, Nico Joubert, Hilton Musk, Melissa Tait and Benjamin van Wyk designed and built a hay-offload slide for the Zoo.
