The first contact session of the Community-Based Project Module (JCP) of the Faculty Engineering, the Built Environment and Information Technology took place in the Aula. There is already 1460 students registered for the module. This is a compulsory undergraduate module of the Faculty. Because there is so many students from all the departments in the Faculty it is very difficult to accommodate the lectures in the time table. From 2009 the JCP-lectures took place after lecture hours in the Aula. To accommodate the students, one lecture was presented in Afrikaans and the other in English.

Mr Rowan Watson from security on campus, addressed the students on their safety when they will do their projects in the communities.
