A group of engineering students enrolled for the compulsory undergraduate module, Community-Based Project (JCP), recently completed 40 hours of community service at the White River SPCA. The group members are, Nanda Swiegers, Alex Ralph, Richard Mallory, Jason Pretorius, Gavin Munro, Nadine Jacobsen and Miguel da Costa Dias. These students also cleaned the kennels and fed the mouths of over 65 hungry dogs, cats, kittens and puppies. Additional tasks that were completed included paving two walkways, cleaning dogs and cats, cutting a fire-break and sorting donated books and animal food.
 
The leader of the group Nadine Jacobsen wrote: “On behalf of the group, I would like to thank everyone at the White River SPCA, especially staff members Petro, Anton, Lynne, Lanie, Pamela, Maria and Lou. We would like to send out a very special thank you to Mia Barnard who allowed us to come and work at the SPCA. You are all really wonderful people and we look forward to working with you again.
