JCP-students created entertaining videos to make Maths fun

Posted on July 31, 2010

As part of their 40 hours fieldwork for the compulsory undergraduate course, Community Based Project (JCP) of the Faculty Engineering, Built Environment and Information Technology two students Chris Berrange and Ansia Labuschagne did a project with the Meraka Institute at the CSIR. The project, Maths in a lift, is aimed at bringing mathematics to high school learners - directly to their cell phones! Their job was to create short, entertaining videos, each depicting a mathematical concept, that learners will be able, and willing, to send around on their cell phones. They used Pivot, Paint and Pinnacle and a lot of patience to create their four animation videos with a great deal of success.  You may view it on YouTube, just search Dr. Math in a Lift.
