As part of their fieldwork for the compulsory undergraduate module, Community-Based Project (JCP) Module, Martin Schoeman and Joubert van Zyl teach community members from Mamelodi in basic computer skills at the CIL-labs. This is the first year that students from the JCP-module use the IT-labs for training. JCP-students of previous years trained community members in various computer labs in the township. It was always a problem as a limited number of people could be trained at once, most of the time some of the computers were not working and internet access was not always possible. The community members reported very positively with regard to the training and utilising the IT-labs.
