Computer training for community of Mamelodi

Posted on April 06, 2014

During the April recess students enrolled for the module, Community-Based Project Module (JCP) of the Faculty Engineering, Built Environment and Information Technology students taught 51 community members basic computer skills.  The students, Bruce Liu, Christopher Park, Nonde Masonde, Semaka Malapane, Tonia Michael, Merieke Malan, Johan Roux, Mpomana Dikotla, Dorcas Kgonyane, Tshepo Mahlagare and Phillip van der Walt have done this project as part of their field work for the module.

The project is organised with the assistance of the Stanza Bopape Community Centre and is one of the most successful projects of the module.  Annually more than 500 community members are trained on basic computer skills.

The students find the project very rewarding as many attendees do manage to apply successfully for a job after completing this course.
