International Workshop on HIV & Pediatrics, Munich, Germany
Our Research Centre Director Professor Ute Feucht and PhD candidate Mothusi Nyofane had the opportunity to attend the International Workshop on HIV & Pediatrics in Munich, Germany. Mothusi presented some of the results from the UmbiGodisa study, carried out at our Research Centre, in a Poster Walk at the Workshop.
The UmbiGodisa study investigated the impact of maternal HIV infection & anaemia and placental insufficiency on child neurodevelopment, growth, and anaemia at 18 months. Findings showed that infants who were exposed to maternal HIV infection and placental insufficiency were at a greaterer risk for cognitive delay and stunting.
