Child PIP Software Programme: Version 4

• Hardware required: Even relatively old hardware will be suitable for this programme.
• Software required: Version 4 will run on Windows 7-11 software platforms.

NOTE: if you are planning a Windows upgrade, say from Windows 10 to Windows 11, do this BEFORE installing v4.

1. NEW CHILD PIP v4 USERS:

If you have no previous data ever entered for your site, OR you are installing Child PIP 4 onto a computer for the first time:

• Make a folder on your hard drive/desktop e.g. Child PIP v4 Software. 
• Click here to download the Child PIP Setup v4.2.6.zip file which contain the following 4 files, unzip it and save the files to your Child PIP v4 Software folder, OR download each of file separately below:
  • Child PIP Setup 4.2.6.exe click here
  • Duplicate-checking-tool-v4.2.6.zip click here
  • SQLEXPR_x86_ENU.exe click here
  • Installing SQL Server 2014.pdf click here
• Installation:
  • Install SQLEXPR_x86_ENU.exe FIRST, following the Installing SQL Server 2014.pdf guide.
  • Install Child PIP Setup 4.2.6.exe SECOND, following the 2025 Child PIP v4 User Guide.
• Duplicate checking:
  • You will not need to use this if you are starting data collection but keep it in the folder for later use to help you identify any duplicate data that may have been entered.

2. CURRENT v4 USERS:

• Be sure to keep your v4 software up to date!
• Always do a backup and export before making any changes.
• If you haven’t done so, make a folder on your hard drive/desktop e.g. Child PIP v4 Software. 
• Click here to download the Child PIP Setup v4.2.6.zip file which contain the following 4 files, unzip it and save the files to your Child PIP v4 Software folder, OR download each of file separately below:
  • Child PIP Setup 4.2.6.exe click here
  • Duplicate-checking-tool-v4.2.6.zip click here
  • SQLEXPR_x86_ENU.exe click here
  • Installing SQL Server 2014.pdf click here
• As you already have version 4 on your computer, you do not need to run the SQLEXPR installer.
• Simply run the Child PIP Setup 4.2.6.exe. This will UPDATE your programme. It will NOT affect your data (but you did a backup and export anyway, right!)

Note: The same Child PIP Setup 4.2.6.exe file is used for both updating current users and for new user installation!

• Duplicate checking:
  • Unzip the Duplicate-checking-tool-v4.2.6.zip and save the 4 files into a Duplicate Checking Tool folder in the Child PIP v4 Software folder on your hard drive/desktop.
  • Carefully read the README.txt document in the folder. This explains how to deal with any duplicate data identified AND consult the 2025 Child PIP v4 User Guide for more detail.
  • Run Duplicate-checking-tool-v4.2.6.exe.
