Dr. Mark Patrick is a paediatrician based at Greys Hospital, Pietermaritzburg. His responsibilities include running a general paediatric ward and the paediatric cardiac service, and developing systems that improve the quality of care received by children in the South African health system, especially in the inland region of KwaZulu-Natal. Mark is a founder member and co-developer of the ‘Child Healthcare Problem Identification Programme’ (Child PIP) and served on the ministerial ‘National Perinatal Morbidity and Mortality Committee’ (NaPeMMCo). Mark is a clinical lecturer for the University of KwaZulu-Natal and is an active leader in the paediatric MMed programme providing teaching and guidance, and one-on-one supervision for MMed research projects.
